DanMachi Season 4 Part 2 has already been released!

Mark your calendars: the broadcast for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV Late Arc: Disaster will start on January 5, 2023.

DanMachi’s season 4 continuation was confirmed by the website and the anime’s official Twitter account.

The first cour, having only 11 episodes, sparked guesses about a two-cour season. It should be noted that the previous three seasons only had 12 episodes.

The guesswork lasted until the 11th episode of the season when DanMachi’s Twitter released news about an important announcement after the broadcast.

Before all of these, though, rumors and leaks were already abound on the internet regarding a possible continuation.

One particular source of anime buzz and leaks was the popular Twitter handle SugoiLITE, which tweeted about season 4 having two cours and 22 episodes last June 12, 2022.

Months later, SugoiLITE’s post was validated when the people behind DanMachi confirmed the leaks.

DanMachi IV is directed by Hideki Tachibana, with J.C. Staff still behind the production.

Most of the staff of the previous seasons were still manning the production, with new casts for the new characters joining in the fun.

DanMachi Season 4 Part 2 Trailer

Despair is the order of the day, and Bell’s team is in for their worst dungeon adventure yet.

At least that’s what fans can glean from the new PV above, released by the staff on December 13, 2022.

The only bright spot was probably the preview of the theme songs for DanMachi IV, part 2.

Saori Hayami performed the opening song, “Shikō” (Visual Purple), while the ending theme, “Kirikizu” (Gash), was sung by the popular band sajou no hana.

New cast members were also revealed, namely: Mai Nakahara as Astraea, Yumiri Hanamori as Alise Lovell, Sayaka Senbongi as Gojōno Kaguya, Ayaka Suwa as Lyra, Maki Kawase as Noin, Asuna, Tomari as Neze Rankett, Hikaru Tohno as Asta, Rina Kawaguchi as Celty Srowa, Yūki Hirose as Iska Bra, Saki Kosaka as Ryana, and Akira Sekine as Maryū.

A special PV released by Warner Bros. Japan Anime, on October 1, 2022, initially gave fans the awaited status update on Bell and his party, or at least a clue about it.

The said PV also highlighted Disaster arc’s premiere dates and other broadcast details.

A key visual was released along with the October promo video featuring a battered Bell holding his Hestia knife, stooping behind a severely injured Ryuu.

After a lackluster pair of seasons, DanMachi finally lived up to its story’s potential, outdoing itself during this season.

The biggest reason is probably the involvement of DanMachi’s author, Fujino Omori.

The past seasons were chock-full of fan service, with even the OVAs of seasons 1 and 3 featuring scenes involving onsen or hot springs.

The storyteller in Omori was fed up with the skipped parts of his well-written novel and took it upon himself to supervise season 4’s scripts alongside Hideki Shirane.

Where to Watch DanMachi Season 4 Part 2

If you are a fan residing outside Japan, the best streaming platform to watch DanMachi IV’s continuation is HIDIVE.

HIDIVE, an anime streaming platform similar to Crunchyroll, should continue streaming DanMachi IV part 2, seeing that they even retweeted the new key visual as support.

DanMachi is one of the several titles licensed under Sentai Filmworks that became unavailable on Crunchyroll after Sony Pictures acquired the streaming platform in 2021.

Netflix also streams most of DanMachi’s seasons, but these are only available in Asian regions.

The DanMachi movie, Arrow of the Orion, is also available on Netflix as of writing this article, but only for Japan and UK viewers.

Japanese viewers should be able to see the new episodes on January 5, 2023, via ABEMA.

Other networks, such as TOKYO MX and BS11, will start broadcasting DanMachi on January 6, 2023.

DanMachi Season 4 Part 2 Story

What started as a step towards his boyhood dream of finding love inside the Dungeon, Bell’s adventures have blossomed into an epic journey befitting his lineage.

14-year-old Bell Cranel is an aspiring adventurer who went to the city of Orario to explore the famous Dungeon.

This city is home to factions or guilds called familia, where gods who went down the mortal world give blessings to their chosen adventurers.

Orario newbie Hestia is a destitute goddess who scams– err, convinces Bell to join her familia. Bell realizes later that he was actually Hestia’s first initiate.

And thus, a familia myth is born.

But the Dungeon is unforgiving, and Bell almost becomes one of its many victims.

Facing death in the form of a higher-level minotaur, Bell is saved by top adventurer Ais Wallenstein, a powerful swordsman he looks up to.

After such an embarrassing encounter, Bell vows to catch up to Ais and become a strong adventurer like her.

Fans have followed Bell’s journey from being a weak rookie to an adventurer everyone keeps an eye on.

And now, the fourth run of DanMachi is a surprisingly well-spun adaptation of the novel.

With author Omori’s involvement, the beloved franchise finally feels the love of fans who sees potential in DanMachi’s story.

The fourth season features a new quest Bell and his party has to undergo in the deep parts of the Dungeon.

At the end of the first part, Labyrinth Arc, the party encounters a disaster. The preview and the key visual for Calamity Arc show Bell and his party’s plight.

Season 4, part 2 should focus on Bell and Ryu’s fight against the worst the Dungeon could offer in its deepest parts.

DanMachi Season 4 Part 2 News

DanMachi is the nickname of the popular series Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?).

Based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name written by Omori and illustrated by Suzuhito Yasuda, DanMachi first came into light as Omori’s entry titled Familia Myth for the 4th GA Bunko Award.

After winning the Great Prize award, Omori received an offer for publication.

DanMachi’s first light novel volume was published in 2013 by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint.

The light novel spawned three mangas, with the first one illustrated by Kunieda. It started serialization in Young Gangan, Square Enix’s seinen manga magazine, in 2013.

The second one was a four-panel manga called Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darō ka 4-koma: Kamisama no Nichijō that began serialization online in Square Enix’s Gangan Online in 2014.

Episode Ryuu, DanMachi manga no. 3, was adapted in 2016 and illustrated by Momoyama Hinase.

J.C. Staff picked DanMachi up and started airing season 1 in 2015. Four years later, two more seasons were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

The back-to-back seasons were received poorly, prompting the author to take the reins in overseeing the scripts for the fourth season.

The fourth season started airing in July 2022.

In between these seasons, DanMachi was also adapted into a spin-off anime series, an anime film, and two video games.
