What is the plotline of Dr. Death?
Based on the Wondery podcast of the same name, Dr. Death tells the true story of Christopher Duntsch (Dornan), who produced a thriving neurology practice in the Dallas medical community. Christopher Duntsch is a young, charismatic, and successful surgeon. With his near-perfect resume, he has a personality and professional career that impress everyone. However, everything starts to change when patients start to become disabled or even die during routine surgeries. With the number of victims increasing day by day, two of his colleagues, neurosurgeon Robert Henderson (Baldwin) and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby (Slater), decide to investigate what is going on.
In real life, according to rumors and newspapers, Christopher Duntsch is one of America’s leading names in spine surgery till 2010. However, since 2015, he has been called “Doctor Death”. And he had to spend his life in prison. Because after nearly 40 surgeries, about 30 people became paralyzed. Also, he took the lives of two people on purpose. July 20, 2045, is the earliest possible date for his parole hearing.
Will there be a second season of Dr. Death and when?
Even though the second season of Dr. Death has not been officially confirmed by Peacock, fans are still waiting eagerly. But don’t let this make you upset, because it is very normal for the producers to wait for a while to check the popularity of the show and the reaction of the audience. In a regular process, in popular TV series, after the first season is liked by the audience, the second season is most likely to be premiered. But for Dr. Death, this situation is a little complicated. The show is based on a true crime, and most of the story was told in the first season. In this context, while it means we have come to the end of Duntsch’s story, it doesn’t mean the show is completely over. Because the podcast from which this series is adapted already has a second season. There, too, Christopher Duntsch’s story was completed, and the podcast’s second season focuses on the crimes of a different doctor: Dr. Fata! This story is also expected to be purchased by Peacock. So, when will we watch the story of Dr. Fata? The second season of the podcast was published in 2020. If we include the purchasing period and filming time, we can expect the second season of the series to air in late 2022 or early 2023.
What can we expect from the Second Season?
Dr. Death Season 1 concluded with Dr. Duntsch being caught and imprisoned for life after crippling over thirty patients and killing another two. Season 2 of the podcast from which the series is based, tells the story of one of the biggest fraudsters in American healthcare, oncologist Dr. Farid Fata. He is the doctor who gave chemotherapy to patients who did not even have cancer and ruined the lives of many people. We expect the series to follow the podcast and continue with the same story. If you don’t want to wait for the second season of the show, you can listen to the podcast from streaming platforms. Dr. Death will most likely appear in its new season with a new cast as it is expected to be an anthology.
